Rugby.

What might seem important to us is just run of the mill to others!!

Yesterday afternoon we spotted a sealed packet floating amongst the ice, this turned out to be a an unused hypodermic syringe loaded with Insulin. We were fishing that one out when we spotted more and more of them.

As there are a lot of youths around here who "play" along the canal we thought we would phone the local police. They passed us from pillar to post until they decided it was nothing to do with them and we should phone the BW emergency number.

BW promised to phone us back after we spoke to the second person.... which they did, unfortunately the "Emergency Response Team" (I kid you not!) had gone home.

This was at four thirty!!!..... They didn't want to send the team out from home as that would incur call out charges and they didn't want the cost on the budget.

So...........They then asked if we would recover all the syringes and they would be along first thing in the morning to collect them. We tried our best but we couldn't get all of them, a man from BW eventually turned up at eleven o'clock so there was no rush anyway.

To us, having all those needles floating about where children could easily pick them up did seem important to get them removed.

As it turned out nobody else was as bothered as us.

Onward...

An encouraging sunset last night and lo and behold no ice around in the morning, great!!!!
We will still wait here to pick up some essentials as the coal boat is handily, only one day behind us.

Until next time........................
