Ellesmere To Frankton Junction.

On the move again.........but not for long!

Yesterday (Thursday) was a day of howling wind and lashing rain showers, a good day for a trip to the shops. Dodging the rain we managed to make two trips and are now fully stocked once more.

There is a bit of a fiasco going on here at the moment with these supposed winter moorings. The general idea is that you have to pay for and obtain a permit enabling you to stay put on the seventy two hour visitor moorings for the winter.

Simple enough you might think........ enter BW.

Money has been paid out but no permits received, allocated berths are not big enough for the boats using them and the mooring warden has vanished into the ether.

I hope the system is working elsewhere.

The wind dropped away in the evening but left this eerie looking sky behind.
This, as it turned out, truly was the calm before the storm.

When the weather turns bad we have a nice little ritual to celebrate the advent of nap time, this involves the adding of a quantity of dark rum to hot lightly sweetened milk.
A warming soporific effect is induced and before you know it the Zeds are upon you.

This then is not the time for the wind to increase so much that it tore our aerial mast off the roof and dumped everything across the tow path.
Wandering around the towpath with a torch at midnight in a screaming gale totally negates the effect of the hot rum milk.

Moving on today through a fairly still and bright morning, it was not long though before the never ending reversing to clear the prop of leaves became a real bind.
Just over two hours was enough hammering of the gear box so we called it a day.

I'm still on dial up speed for the computer and the phones still have no signal but we have got the best TV picture ever on both digital and analogue.

Every cloud........ and all that!

Until next time..........................
