Ansty To Rugby........ish. 1 Tunnel.

Another strong sign of spring today.

We set off today under a cloudless sky combined with glorious sunshine.

With Ansty left far behind in our wake, thoughts turned to our next port of call....Rugby.

The last time we were there all was not exactly sweetness and light, what with floating needles and an apathetic police and BW response, we were not really looking forward to it.

Why go there? I hear you say.

We need to get to the coal boat who will be passing through there tomorrow, and there is a canalside Tesco.

This far outweighs any other problems that might be incurred.

Not too far out into the country and we pass our first Lambs of the season. This mother taking them for a perilous trip to the water for a drink.

It is quite surprising how many Sheep or Lambs we see floating along. it seems one slip is their last.

It really does look like we are heading down hill to that bridge, absolute nonsense of course. But what a day!!

On through "All Oaks Wood" where the towpath has been considerably improved.

Some people moan about these improvements because it allows the cyclists an easy ride along the towpath.

Personally, I say so what? The canal and surroundings are there for all to enjoy, not just a few.

Once more through the strangeness that is the Newbold Tunnel, and we were at Rugby.

It was absolutely packed with boats, not a mooring left.

Bearing in mind that one side of the canal has twenty four hour only moorings, there are two boats and one Butty that have been there since November to our knowledge.

Not such a bad thing though as we didn't much fancy it in the first place. Moving on and out into the country we have found a nice little mooring next to the Golf Course.

Rugby can wait.

I hope there was nothing urgent in this lorry, he was parked there for ages watching the boats. Cant say I blame him though.

.

Until next time...............................
