Braunston.
After finding the engine ran perfectly for the five hours or so of our Sunday chug (and more importantly consumed no oil), it was my turn to imbibe the falling down water.
This was done with a bit too much gusto leaving me feeling none too clever come Monday morning, therefore this Monday became a "rest" day.
The changes of Sunday evening as the mists gathered whilst the sun went down.
An extremely pleasant but quite short chug through the rain and mist on Tuesday took us back to Braunston central. This was- as usual- very busy, but the most surprising thing was that there was a full blown hunt in progress crossing a field of cows, Steaming Horses, Red Jackets, Hunting Horns and loads of dogs.
I probably should have paid more attention at the time but I thought this sort of thing was banned, obviously not!
This is a very nasty piece of bank lurking in a bridge hole waiting for an unwary boater, I certainly would not want to meet up with that on a dark night, the two sandbags are not going to help much.
Should the weather be good we will be off up the locks and through the Braunston tunnel in the morning. We will then be very close to where we actually started off from (Whilton Marina) all that time ago. A short hop down the Buckby/Whilton flight and we will be back.
Until next time.............................
