Polesworth back to Atherstone. 11 Locks.

Quite a short day today as we seemed to fly up the Atherstone Flight and once at the top there was one mooring left, so we thought we should take it.

I wasn't too sure where all those boats had come from as they didn't pass us last night or this morning until I realised it was Friday again and these are the weekenders.

Yesterday evening once the wind had fallen away.

Looking the other way.

The first lock of the day and the chief wood collector is back in business, nice and free fuel, all you have to do is cut it to size.

The roof is filling up nicely.

Boyhood memories of kicking your way through piles of leaves, then getting a clip around the ear for ruining your shoes.

A very "busy" entrance to this lock, most of the locks on this flight are very quick to empty but incredibly slow to fill. We did set off this morning with the intention of stopping before we reached the top if the going got too bad, but as I say we seemed to fly up them.

There is always a chance for a sit down and a quick natter while you are waiting though. This husband and wife team have been living aboard for seven years now, and still say it is the best thing they have ever done.

Slowly chugging through the houses as we near the top, to me, this is always a good way of arriving somewhere.

Until next time...............................
