I spent three hours last night trying to get a picture to upload to this site and failed.
This morning it took three minutes to get these four on
Well, this was the rather sad end of our trip up the LLangollen and back, 12 days in total and apart from the wind it was a great canal to travel on. We are both a little sad to be leaving it.
This is the last lock and it was at this point that someone suggested that we turn around and do it again. We did think about it but it was starting to get very busy up there, even as we came through the staircase locks there was a queue of ten boats waiting to go up.
Maybe if we come this way again.
As we approached the top lock of the last four we passed a poor old hire boat that had just come out of it. They got about 200mtrs along the canal before the wind knocked them straight across and wedged them from bank to bank. That's when the shouting started! The lock keeper was last seen running as fast as he could towards them
Back onto the ever straight Shroppie and under bridge 100. This canal seems very wide in comparison to where we have just been, there is room for four boats across at this bit, easy!
Another blind ninety degree turn onto another canal, we made this in one with no reversing. This took us onto the Middlewich Branch of the Shroppie which in turn will take us to the Trent And Mersey. Then which way left or right? do we toss a coin or spin a bottle?
The wind has left us at last only to be replaced by the rain but we don't care, just so glad that the wind has gone........... for now.
So until tomorrow..................
