Audlem to Nantwich then Nantwich to Bridge 10 on the LLangollen. 6 locks.

No reception last night so will do two days to catch up again.

"WHINGE"

I tell you, if someone tries to sell you high speed mobile broadband connection through a "Dongle" please point him in my direction. I am just about getting this through on dial up speed, at least this way you don't get disconnected every few minutes.

"WHINGE OVER"

Set off on Thursday into a fairly bright day with glorious scenery all around, we have been told there is a very interesting museum at the next set of locks. OK then, not my cup of tea but might make a change.

The weather soon took a turn for the worse as the storm clouds built up. That lot only dropped a shower on us, which was lucky.

I do love signs like this, perhaps its just me though.

Right lads we have got a huge Nuclear Bunker to hide how shall we do it?
I know sarge, lets make a big brown sign with an arrow pointing to it and call it a museum, no one will go any where near the place.

When we left the bunker this helicopter did follow us along the canal for a while.

Friday has seen us turn onto the LLangollen Canal, the turn in from the south has just about everything set to make it as hard as possible to make.

Firstly you pass under a narrow blind bridge, then immediately have to swing the boat through 90 degrees against a weir flowing very hard onto you (we also had loads of wind, but that is not there all the time), now that is the perfect place to put the narrowest of the narrow locks on the system, all fenders have to be lifted aboard for this one or you will jam inside and the crew has to be dropped off as well. I'm sure they design this type of thing just to spice it all up a bit.

Before the turn we crossed this very small aqueduct high above Nantwich. This town seems to be booming as far as the shops and new buildings are concerned and is in complete contrast to Market Drayton which seems to be clinging on by its fingertips. So many shops closed down, just the market left really.
It was just about here that someone said its very hot today and started slapping the suntan lotion on. Twenty minutes later it was of course raining.

The first four locks done as we climb our way into Wales. Will try harder with the scenery pics.

These locks don't give you too much room, we have to change places with that boat in front.

Another quick shower after we had moored up this afternoon left everything looking very lush and green.

So onward into Wales tomorrow......................

It was a NB holiday on the Langollen that helped me fall in love with canals/boats. The aqueduct is AMAZING!
