Sunday 12 April 09. Stourport. 2 staircase locks, 1 normal lock.
We have now turned onto the Staffs and Worcester canal and stopped for a few days just north of the basins.Considering it is a bank holiday weekend the weather is glorious. We passed through the two sets of staircase locks with no problems. These type of locks have the bottom gate of one being the top gate of the other so a little bit of thought is required before winding any handles.

The top of the staircase locks. That wall on the left completely disappears underwater when the lock is full, an unusal exit as the water flow is tring to drag you onto the wall

The last lock out of the basin, theres D over the other side of the road opening the gates to let the boat under the bridge. (Apologies to the man on the phone in the car)

This is what she was opening! They have really squeezed this lock in here having to bend the balance beams nearly at right angles to miss the bridge.
Thats all we have done today and have found a five day mooring so we are planning another maintenance day for tomorrow.
Until then..........
