Friday/Saturday 3/4 April 09. Worcester.

We are staying here until Monday as we are waiting for some passengers/lock slaves who are going to spend a few days aboard.

The Cathedral is very impressive (have been doing touristy things) the shops just don't stop though and my feet are hurting.

Living next to a Cathedral whose bells chime every fifteen minutes and then mark the hour with however many booms it needs is great........... at first,

then you begin to notice the chimes, and what seems like two minutes later they are off again.

That cannot be fifteen minutes says I.

If you say that once more you are going swimming says D.

This is Diglis Basin, everything is brand new, the Restaurant/Bar building isn't occupied yet.

We are too early by a few months.

This is one of the two locks that drop down onto the river Severn, They are huge, those balance beams are half the size again of any wide lock we have encountered so far. There is a lock keeper here should you need him, he has a very philosophical way of looking at things.

If you help these hireboaters too much how will they learn?

Catch 22 methinks.

The person on the right gives you some idea of the scale.

After passing through those locks, and this being his first trip on his brand new boat he floored the throttle and went roaring away up the river shouting "we are on our way", just look at that bow wave.

At sea that is known as having the bone between her teeth.

This is going to be a great week.

Until tomorrow......
