Banbury to Aynho. 5 Locks.

Made a fairly early start to get on the water point before the world and his wife arrived. Then, onto Morrisons to collect some liquid refreshments for us and another gallon of liquid gold for the generator.

First lock at nearly first light, (more like second or third really) looks like it might be another lovely day.

It certainly was, we even stopped out in the fields for breakfast in the Cratch.

This is more like it, two whole days without rain.

We were hailed from the other bank by fellow Blogger Wilshamstead just before we moved on. It is good to put faces to names once in a while. Although there are loads of Bloggers out here, we very rarely see any of them.

It got better and better as the day went on. Everything was a pleasure to do today, its amazing what a difference a bit of sun can make.

This was a bit of a surprise to see here.

This is a flood information board for when you are about to enter a river.

As we are on the Oxford canal and there is no mention of joining a river in the Nicholsons guide we were a bit put out by finding this sign beside a lock.

This was the exit from that lock on the river side. The water level is at two meters headroom here but the gouges in the brickwork where the arches start to curve lay testament as to how high it can rise.

It was only a very short stretch before the next lock put us back on the canal, but that short stretch in flood conditions would mean mooring up and waiting for the level to drop which could take days, if not weeks.

Another nice mooring tonight, (pictures tomorrow, connection permitting) even having dinner in the Cratch watching the sun go down.............which was nice.

Until next time...........................
