Lock 24E to Lock 33E.

Plan "D" was made by a BW official over the phone on Thursday morning telling us to wait where we are until 08:30 the next morning when we would be taken up the next flight of locks to the tunnel.

Plan "E" was made by a BW worker half an hour later by tapping on the roof and telling us to get on the move as soon as possible up to lock 33E where we could moor for the night ready for an approach to the tunnel in the morning.

So off we went................as I keep saying when something goes awry...Onward.

The first lock was this impressive (or scary) Guillotine type, this had to be lovingly un padlocked and worked by the BW staff.

We felt quite pleased not to have been French as we passed under this.

This is it in the closed position as we make our merry way ever slowly onwards and upwards.

The water shortage up here is really beginning to bite, knowing that we have got a long, long way to go ever upwards is no longer at the back of your mind but slap bang in the front.

A quick example here.
This is the place where you would normally bring the boat alongside and drop off the crew to work the lock.

There are still some very nice parts along here, all quaint and what you would hope to find.

Well...., we are at lock 33E and not to put too fine a point on it, it is going to get even worse tomorrow.

The water level is that low the pounds above us are empty.

Tomorrow as they say......... is another day. (Good old Scarlet)
