Rugby To Ansty. 1 Tunnel.

Nearly got seasickness today.

Whats this? water being pushed astern? we must be on the move again.
Where are the Kwells?

Ooo it was Cold, very, very cold.
Ooo it was wet, very, very wet, but so what? we were on the move again!
Leaving the police and ambulance sirens of Rugby in our wake was a small price to pay, and, quite frankly, it has been a bit of a relief.

The Newbold Tunnel, I always have to ask why? Why do they spend all this money lighting a tunnel that is no more than a long bridge?

It does look nice, but I can think of a few other tunnels around the system that would get a lot more benefit from a few white lights than this one.

We are now close to Ansty after passing only one other moving boat today, which was Nice!

Until next time.....................

Rugby.

Another couldn't care less attitude today!

The red boat in this picture is adrift, just floating about the canal. It is a hire boat from the Ashby Boat Co.
We have phoned them about it, to be told there is nothing they can do.
The boat is on hire for a week, when the hirer's realise it is missing they will just have to find it again, wont they?
The curtains are all drawn shut and the ropes are hanging in the water.

I for one am not comfortable with that type of attitude, how do you know they are not aboard and in trouble? (gas fumes etc).

We will be keeping a close eye on that boat.

We fished the remaining needles out of the water today as the BW man didn't bother to yesterday.

I think we will be glad to leave here tomorrow, the fuel is now in the tank, the coal is on the roof and the ice has gone, so there is nothing to keep us here any longer.

Onward.

Until next time..........................

Rugby.

What might seem important to us is just run of the mill to others!!

Yesterday afternoon we spotted a sealed packet floating amongst the ice, this turned out to be a an unused hypodermic syringe loaded with Insulin. We were fishing that one out when we spotted more and more of them.

As there are a lot of youths around here who "play" along the canal we thought we would phone the local police. They passed us from pillar to post until they decided it was nothing to do with them and we should phone the BW emergency number.

BW promised to phone us back after we spoke to the second person.... which they did, unfortunately the "Emergency Response Team" (I kid you not!) had gone home.

This was at four thirty!!!..... They didn't want to send the team out from home as that would incur call out charges and they didn't want the cost on the budget.

So...........They then asked if we would recover all the syringes and they would be along first thing in the morning to collect them. We tried our best but we couldn't get all of them, a man from BW eventually turned up at eleven o'clock so there was no rush anyway.

To us, having all those needles floating about where children could easily pick them up did seem important to get them removed.

As it turned out nobody else was as bothered as us.

Onward...

An encouraging sunset last night and lo and behold no ice around in the morning, great!!!!
We will still wait here to pick up some essentials as the coal boat is handily, only one day behind us.

Until next time........................
