Keighley to Keighley. 1 Swing Bridge.

This was to be the shortest cruise ever.

After I published the last blog the rain had stopped so off we went, within ten minutes we were both well and truly frozen. Coats, gloves and fleeces didn't help, our breath was pluming from our mouths.

Lets give this up as a bad job, says I.

Wuss says D, jumping ashore with the rope.

As it turned out the rain started again shortly afterwards and it was relentless, all night long until ten the next morning. We have stayed here for the day giving Ubique a T-Cut and polish as the howling wind dried the rain water from the boat in no time.

Here's a few pictures of our approach to Keighley.

One more swing bridge, no traffic this time though. Some of these are so heavy to work that I actually have to get off the boat to help, I mean, really, what is it coming too?

D's on about ending up with muscles like Arnie, many more of these and she probably will, then I'd better watch it.
Dry stone walled fields one minute..........

Picturesque woodland the next. We haven't seen any Deer at the moment though.

The canal bank was lined with these Rhododendrons giving a great splash of colour and making the whole place even more attractive.

Now a quick question for all the botanists amongst you.
What on earth is this thing?
It has huge cup shaped leaves and those spikes you can see in the middle look like they are just about to flower. I gave this a very wide berth just in case it leaped aboard and ate us.

Off to the Bingley Five Rise tomorrow, another land mark on the canal system, sixty feet down through five staircase locks.

Until then....................
