Hailstones?....... Hailstones?.......What on earth?....
The good old Bank holiday weather kept up to the normal then!
I did like the dusting of hailstones it delivered mid morning, just to keep us all on our toes.....naturally.
Today, (Tuesday) and we were on the move again, only after having to buy another bag of coal from the working boat Hadar who was handily moored in the basin.
This is bad news as we have blacked the stove for the summer and it seems that we will be relighting it again in the very near future.... Here we go again with the weather!!!
Huge properties line the canal around here, with huge sweeping gardens to match.
Back out onto the Grand Union (Leicester Branch) and a few locks were forthcoming. This is always a good time to brush up on the lock dancing.
Made it.........now heeeeeeave.
Not too sure BW have got the water levels quite right here, but when in Rome..........
Greylag Geese chicks look exactly the same as Canada Geese chicks, And by the way...........Wot choo looking at?
Here is something that is completely unnecessary but found all over the canal system.
Signs asking or telling boaters to slow down. In this situation the boat has a permanent mooring and can be moored fore and aft with good ropes, springs (ropes leading onto land from bow to stern and visa versa) can be used along with good fendering. All this adds up to a boat that can't move very far and has no real chance of being damaged.
No need for the signs!!
There are some people (who are livaboards and Bloggers) out here who get so incensed when they think that someone has passed their boat at two miles an hour faster than they think they should have, make a note of the boats name purely to get revenge at a later date.
Should they be able to confront the offender they start off stressing in such a way it seems that they could go ten rounds with Mike Tyson.
All rather silly really........But it happens.
Until next time............................
