Rugby.

A little bit of cat hunting.

We have made the decision to try and obtain a young cat to live on board with us.

The two cats we left back at our brick home, in the care of our son, were sadly far too long in the tooth and set in their ways to try and bring them with us aboard Ubique.

Obtaining one though, through the "proper channels" is proving to be a bit of a problem!

It seems that no Cattery/Re homing Centre/Vet or Rescue Centre around here, will entertain the idea of letting one of their cats go to a "Boat".

Apparently it is too dangerous for them.

The amount of people out here with cats aboard their boats is quite surprising and proves the lie to the opinion of these so called Re homing centres.

Rant:

What is better for the cat?

Having a nice cosy boat with a large food bowl/two doting carers and a lovely warm fire to curl up in front of,

or be left in a cage at the centre with the possibility of being put to sleep forever!

What is the matter with these people?????

Rant over:

On our return from the fruitless search on what was a very grey day, the sun suddenly came out and lit up the trees opposite our moorings.

You cannot deny, that is a different sight, and very calming.

Until next time..............................

If you want a cat on board don't write off the old ones. A friend of mine has just moved onto his boat full time and his cat is well into its teens, never been on a boat before and loving it

Hi Brian and Diana,

Our cats are very old and we did not want to put the stress on them of a three hour car journey and then a boat as their new home.

It was a hard decision.

These centers will not allow us to have any cat though, whatever the age.

Maybe it will be different in another area.

Regards Chris And Debbie.

Bones had a similar problem getting a dog at first, but then found somewhere where it was no problem. I don't know if they do cats as well, visit her blog and drop her a line,or on Facebook

Nanny state or is it a pussy state !!

Get one from a farmer - they won't care..

We bought pedigree cats but I'm always concerned about catnappers.

have you managed to get a cat? If not, email me and I will ask a few people from where I am where they got theirs - two have moved on board different boats locally.
